Sam sat next to Claire at her table, smiling at the readers in line, about to take a sip of coffee from a Styrofoam cup when he felt his left arm being clutched for dear life. His fast reflexes allowed him to place the cup down without making a mess all over himself and the books in front of him.

Claire’s face was terror stricken. “What is it?”

“Sam, that’s him and he’s headed for Amy. Oh my God, do something.”

“You’re overreacting Claire. What do you want me to do? Tackle him in the middle of the book fair?”

“Would you? I’m busy right now.” Claire held up the book she was about to sign for the woman in front of her.
